Group Therapy Jazz Quintet


Currently residing in Eugene, Oregon, Jesse Cloninger has performed throughout the United States, Canada, Poland, Italy, and Israel. Jesse holds a Masters Degree in Jazz Studies with an emphasis in Saxophone Performance from the University of North Texas where he performed, recorded, and toured with the One O'Clock and Two O'Clock Lab Bands. In the Winter and Spring of 2006 Cloninger toured with Maynard Ferguson and the Big Bop Nouveau. Jesse has performed in groups which backed up: Joe Lovano, Bob Mintzer, Phil Woods, Benny Golson, Chris Potter, Ken Peplowski, Christian McBride, and Nicholas Payton
.

In addition to frequent local performances with his own quartet and trio, Jesse plays alto saxophone in the Emerald City Jazz Kings and tenor saxophone with the Cherry Poppin' Daddies. Jesse frequently serves as an adjudicator and clinician in music festivals and contests throughout Oregon, and recently served as an adjudicator at the Reno Jazz Festival. Jesse teaches saxophone at Lane Community College, Shasta Middle School, and serves as the Saxophone and Clarinet Instructor at The John G. Shedd Institute for the Arts. Jesse studied with James Riggs and Sylvia Baker.
